Earmold Care

Your ear mold is an integral part of your hearing system and must be maintained to ensure maximum hearing and understanding. Your ear mold should be cleaned and checked on a regular basis using the following procedures:

  • Wipe the ear mold off every night using a damp cloth or paper towel.
  • Check the tubing, especially at the bend near the ear mold, daily to make sure a moisture '1bubble" is not blocking the tubing and preventing you from hearing.
  • Check the tubing on a weekly basis to insure there is no break in the tubing or that the tubing is not becoming hard. The tubing should remain flexible to have a good fitting ear mold without feedback.
  • Once a month, remove the tubing and ear mold from the hearing aid and wash it in warm soapy water. Make sure the ear mold and tubing are dry before putting it back onto the hearing aid. You may want to use an ear mold blower for this purpose. This may he purchased from your hearing aid specialist.
  • Have your hearing aid specialist or audiologist check the ear mold for proper fit at least once a year.
  • Keep away from dogs and other pets. They love to chew them up.
