Hearing Loss and Older Adults
(Note Disclaimer Below)

Hearing loss is one of the most common attributes of aging. One in four adults age 65 and over and one in three adults age 75 and over have a hearing loss. Hearing loss is more common among men then women. Nearly half of all men age 75 and older have a hearing loss compared to less than a third of all women of the same age. Modern technology offers individuals with hearing loss options for rehabilitation and assistance with hearing. The electronic age with its amplification of sound has also created new risks for hearing impairment and the need for greater awareness between generations of the potential hazards of excessive noise.
